Alt is a German style that has a rich brown color with slightly sweet malt character. The aroma is assertively malty, and lightly balanced with hops. German Ale/Kolsch yeast is recommended to give the beer a clean, neutral finish. Alaskan Amber is a good commercial example.
The Dusseldorf Altbier kit contains:
9 lbs. of German Munich Malt or
6.6 lbs Munich Liquid Extract
2 lbs. Caramunich and Carafa I Malts
2 oz (total) of Perle and Spalter Hops
Muslin Steeping and/or hop bag
Irish Moss for Kettle Clarification/Sedimentation
As with all our recipe kits, you have several options for milling, liquid or dry yeast, and with or without priming sugar.
