The Munich Dunkel is a far cry from the traditional Pilsner styles that Germany is famous for. The Dunkel dates farther back than the pilsner, and is much darker and maltier than it's blond, pilsner brother. Made with Munich extract and Spalter hops, this is a fine example of a true Old World Beer! "Kde se pico vari, tam se dobre dari" (Where Beer is Brewed, People Do Well)is the old saying in Wenceslas, where Bohemian Dunkels originated. This Munich Dunkelkit contains:
10.5 lbs. German Munich Malt or
6.6 lbs Munich Liquid Extract
.5 lbs German Carafa I Malt
2 oz of Spalt Pellet Hops
Muslin Steeping and/or hop bag
Irish Moss for Kettle Clarification/Sedimentation
As with all our recipe kits, you have several options for milling, liquid or dry yeast, and with or without priming sugar. We have included both Ale (Kolsch) and Lager yeast options for you.
